CERTIFICATION PROCESS

Master in Endoscopy L2

PREREQUISITES

Bachelor in Endoscopy Certificate

First acquire the level 1 Bachelor Certificate before you can apply for the Master level.

Provide your certificate as proof that you have completed the first level (Bachelor) upon registration for a second level certification session

If you have carried out more than 200 endoscopic interventions as first surgeon, you can apply for a bypass to omit the Bachelor certification. Note that the Bachelor tutorials on the Winners ELearning platform always have to be completed prior to receiving access to the MIGS tutorials.

1. TESTT2

Is a theorical exam consisting of multiple choices questions on instrumentation, OR organisation, anatomy, different endoscopic techniques and complication management.

2. LASTT

Is a practical test to measure the competence level of an individual in basic laparoscopic psychomotor skills.

It includes 3 exercises:

1 - Camera navigation: evaluates the skills to handle the camera and work with a 30° optic

2 - Hand-eye coordination: evaluates the skills of simultaneous camera and instrument handling

3 - Bi-manual coordination: evaluates the ability to handle 2 forceps simultaneously

Each exercise is performed 3 times. Exercises are done in pairs, where one trainee performs the exercise and the other assists. Pairs swap positions after each run.

All exercise runs are carried out & timed simultaneously under instruction of the head mentor

Scoring is based on time and accurate completion of procedure.

Port Position is the same for all exercises.

3. SUTT2

This test measures the ability of fine and complex motor skills by performing correct stitches and intracorporeal knots.

The test is composed of four suturing procedures, which must each be performed in 7 minutes.

1 - Stitching Greek Suture

2 - Stitching & Knot tying with right hand

3 - Stitching & Knot tying with left hand

4 - Stitching, tissue approximation & knot tying

Exercises are done in pairs, where one trainee performs the exercise and the other assists

All exercise runs are carried out & timed simultaneously under instruction of the head mentor

Scoring is based on time and accurate completion of procedure, measures by precision through the dots, correct pathway of the stitch, knot quality and absence of trauma.

4. HYSTT2

Is a practical test to measure the competence level of an individual in basic hysteroscopic psychomotor skills in the specific uterine environment. It includes 2 exercises:

1 - Camera Navigation: evaluates the skills to handle the camera and work with a 30° optic. (12 targets to be identified within 180 sec.)

2 - Hand-eye Coordination: To evaluate the skills of simultaneous camera handling and handling with a hysteroscopic forces, grasping an object and transporting it, while keeping an eye on your camera and light cable. (12 pins to be moved within 240 sec)

Each exercise is performed 3 times. Exercises are done in pairs, swap positions after each run

Mentor is responsible for time registration and the scoring form

Scoring is based on time and accurate completion of procedure. Similar to HYSTT1, but with measurement of additional parameters.
